One Million Hockey Legs and Rotary District 3190 sign MoU

This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is signed between Rotary District 3190 and One Million Hockey Legs (1MHL), Netherlands / Bovelander Hockey Academy (BHA).

1MHL is a project, based on a MoU on sports development between the Dutch and Indian Government. The project is aiming to give grassroots hockey an impulse in quality and quantity and to further develop the link between India and The Netherlands.

Rotary is a service organization and part of Rotary International, this MoU is primarily limited to District 3190 the provisions may extend beyond District 3190, where and when possible.

As part of its program in enabling the youth, Rotary conducts many programs for youth, especially in sports. These programs encourage their interests to become a professional player in their choice of sports.

Given the objectives of the parties, there is a perfect alignment to pursue a common goal.

The goal is to give grassroots hockey an impulse in quality and quantity and to develop life skills. We aim to reach 50 school (5 clusters of 10 schools) in Bengaluru region in the first year. In order to be able to train the children, over 50 local coaches will be trained during so called coaching course organized and conducted by 1MHL/BHA. In addition, 1MHL will organize a promotional tour along the schools, a school hockey league and a school hockey festival. The proposed reach for the first year is over 10.000 children.  The project will start in September 2018. The project will be organized in close cooperation with the local NGO Jude Felix Hockey Academy.
